Disintegration of the Mind.

disintegration of the mind
In an overly dramatic fashion, I bring you ‘Disintegration of the Mind’ or ‘Spring Cleaning’. On an unregulated schedule, thoughts shift and provoke the reevaluation of one’s present circumstances. This conscious window of opportunity allows for a more objective view and an explosion of possibilities that if ignored, leads to a lingering state of self-doubt wrapped up in the guise of an alien cyclopes Nefertiti hybrid.

Pirate Painting? Promptly!

Pirate Party
I must confess, whenever I say “ARClark Art” I say it with pirate inflection on the ‘AR’s’. It’s why I chose to stick with it as my name versus an alternative hybrid mash-up of syllables. This image is not 100 percent finessed,  I plan to work with it digitally now that it’s scanned in and offer a before and after. Yar.

Now phase one of the digital attack has begun. Laying in base shapes in Illustrator working from the background sky to the middle ground containing the ship and focusing on the squid last. Personally I’m discovering a lot of frustration when using gradients, it’s not as intuitive as my Photoshop experience leads me to believe it should be. I am using the pencil tool to construct shapes rather than the pen tool, it just seems to go faster. Details will develop on the next round.

And some more details — still trying to figure out what works best for refinement.

Life Is.

old man eyes detailish
Warmth in the eyes, contrasted against a cold, hard world. Maybe a little life, a little death, a little introspection.

Barroooooooo

my mess
My messy table. Working with acrylics on this saw blade even though I’m sure oil is the proper paint to use. The surface was sanded and primed with RustOleum first.

finished?
Finished? With a coat of matte sealer over it.

macro
And finally, playing the ol lens-reverse to get a macro close up of the eye.

Self Portrait

hand face
Self portrait for Life Drawing. We could only use hands as the subject, so I went pretty serious as evidenced by the use of googly eyes. This is mostly acrylic washes with a few touches of the water soluble graphite and a white opaque fabric marker to draw in some of the more intricate white areas.

Hungry Like Me*

hungrylikeme

Yellow and brown. Wolfy and looser than usual. Wolves. On an slightly related note, I hate my fat cat Chubs who does nothing but get in front of my monitor when I am typing. The only thing you are starving for is attention.

*”Hungry like me” is stolen from a friend, Flavio, and if he ever gets a website this is where I’ll give him credit.

Biker’s Paradise

Sawblade Tilted

Yar she be… 95 percent completion after an unmonitored amount of hours. Four feet of pure delicious saw blade covered in layers of acrylic and frustration.  I just need to get replacement photos during the day. Better light, right?  Until then, High Pass will suffice!
