Something City

something city
I’m guessing they built this city on rock and roll as far as ideals are concerned, but quite literally you can see it is perched atop cliffs. This image started with a colored wash then all the pen/sharpie work on top. The goal in mind was to fill sketchbook pages, so it’s not necessarily a life changing message, but it’s kind of pretty. If I lived up there I would probably end up on one of those Discovery Channel documentaries about the most dangerous roads.

Seize the Seas! Swipe the Sketches!

Being a creeper myself, I always enjoy peeking inside other people’s sketchbooks. In return, I present to you a fraction of my thumbnail sketches I drew up in preparation for the 11″x14″ full drawings for Shapeshifters and Imitators. Not depicted are the scrawled notes I write to myself to stay focused or the many pages of reference photos I print out.

Monolithic Praise

monolithic praise

I’m beginning to think I draw things just so I can title them. As a confession, I keep a few pages in a spare notebook for “Awesome Band Names” that is bound to come in handy some day. As a further side note – I forgot that sharpie is most difficult to paint over even with several coats of thick acrylic. Which creates an interesting effect, probably, if it is intentional.

Day 4 is my favorite place – Hammock in the trees at the parents house. Aw yea.
Day 5 is my favorite pet – My fat cat.
Day 6 is a character from a book – I just recently read American Gods by Neil Gaiman and made a weird version of Media.

Day 3 – Favorite Food

Tuna Yum

Maybe don’t be so tasty? Not only are you delicious on rice and as a blackened steak, you make a darn fine sandwich. To be fair, you will probably be giving me mercury as a parting gift.

Drawing a Day – Favorite Animal (Number Dos)

badger face

Maybe not my “favorite” animal, but currently my animal I relate to the most. Yea, maybe some badgers are cute, but they can also mess your face up.

Visual Philosopher on Hiatus.

It’s been a bit of a lull but I’ll be getting back into the swing of things this week. I am lined up for a portrait, wolf, and another painted metal eagle among my secret-never-to-be-finished side project.
