These delightful Lyons Artist canvas panels are definitely great for painting on over and over again to get your practice on, but eventually I have to spring for some smoother surfaces (or larger surfaces, this image is only 9″x12″). The texture of the canvas makes it challenging at this size to both lay in tiny details and to photograph or scan a smooth, final image. Everything just ends up emphasizing the texture of the canvas. I did just invest single digit dollars into a polarizing lens for my camera, however, and that is at least cutting down a little bit on the glare.
