Flipped Canvas

painting back
That awkward moment when you and your feline agree your painting looks better from behind with the light streaming in than from the front. I guess it just depends on the mood. Oranges > greens today.

Summer is Coming

desert bugs
Playin’ with atmosphere.  I want to add in more texture and turn it into a texture experiment but this might very well end here.

Tobias Fünke

Tobias Fünke
I have been hung up on this quote for about a week, so I made myself a wallpaper. Enjoy it, or don’t, but DO go watch Arrested Development. (The wallpaper is linked to the image if anyone clicks it for funsies.)

Sad Walrus – No less than you would expect

sad walrus
Yea… It is. It is a sad clown painting with a walrus. If there is one thing I know, it’s that everyone can empathize with the plight of the walrus.

Crazy Eye

lama eye
I’ve been on an eye kick lately and I just wanted to share this crazy iris. This fancy ruffle is news to me but known as ‘iridic granules’  or ‘corpora nigra’ to people that like to call things what they are. A brief internet search leads me to believe these are found mostly horses-like animals and function as eye-visors in bright light. This particular image comes from Suren Manvelyan.

TPB – Bubbles

TPB Bubbles
Lil digital doodle made in an effort to procrastinate. Mission accomplished. (Reference image: Bubbles)

Wandering Eye

wandering eye
Either dusk or dawn, but definitely a hunting-type situation. You can tell from the pastel colors that it’s about to get real.

Glow Eyes

glow eyes
I still need to do some more studying on lighting before this one is done but the bulk of information in this image is centered around the eyes. He/she/it has a bulbous head because he/she/it is either impressively smart or particularly parasitic.

Sawdust City, Eau Claire

map creation
Possibly the first map-creation-steps .gif on the internet. I am a bit of a trailblazer. Everything morphed and shifted a bit along the way, mostly for the better. The project was headed by Historic Maps, LLC, feel free to swing over there and take a look at his previous and future maps from history times.
In the future I will try to organize my reference photos if anyone is interested. Even in a lack-of-interest type situation, I will probably compile them somehow.

Map Production

map making
It’s almost here! Just one more weekend of honest effort until she (art is a ‘she’ like ships, right?) is ready to be set free into the world. I am also excited that I still remember how to make a .gif because I will be combining hours of work into a 5 second gif for those who don’t have time to fritter away on a 5 minute video.
